As of today, visitors to the Malatestiana Library will find a pleasant new development: inside the Piana library, just beneath the portrait of a benevolent Pope from Cesena, Pius VI, a lover of the arts and books, a high-tech interactive touch screen table of considerable emotional impact has been installed.
In fact, this table allows visitors to browse some of the library’s most famous codices (from the Cathedral's extraordinary chorals, to the books of Malatesta Novello, and the manuscripts from Pope Pius VII’s collection), and even to browse through images and photographs, reading brief descriptions and interacting with the illuminated pages.

The chorals are particularly impressive, with the intense notes of the Gregorian chant performed by Cesena’s "Musica Enchiriadis" choir, directed by Pia Zanca.
All the images (well over 300 in total) are in high definition (thanks to photographer Ivano Giovannini and the wmldesign graphic Studio), thus allowing them to be significantly enlarged with a simple touch of the hand, so that even the smallest details can finally be admired in all of their beauty.
In fact, when properly enlarged, even the photographs of Cesena and the library (from the historical ones to the most recent) contain countless details and surprises that would otherwise go unnoticed.
With this touch table produced by the Touchwindow team in Cervia, in addition to offering an up-to-date service worthy of a structure listed in Unesco’s Memory of the World register, the Malatestiana Library has renewed its commitment to using technological innovations and computerized means to promote the knowledge and dissemination of a truly extraordinary historical heritage.
